With you every step, Mo.

I can’t help expecting that if enough of us talk about, connect on, and make/take action around this evolutionary hitch in our collective giddy’up, then we might just see something amazing come next.

Also, let’s talk about dopamine with intent! (Might have to post myself on that one 🤓)

Sounds like the way always appears! “Stay narrow-go deep” is definitely a guide. Yes we get doped on dopamine. Does Substack count too lol? Thanks for sharing! Thanks for walking with us- no music, no podcasts, just a body in a soul. Bless you Mo! 🙏❤️

It all begins with awareness. We all get caught up in the trance of something or other but unless we care to notice, our life and our selves will "languish". Now you can start to FLOURISH again!

I don't have any social media on my phone. I rarely doom scroll on FB but do have to use it for work at times. It all sits on my laptop. Makes it less tempting. I love standing in queues and just observing what is going on around me instead of instantly going to my "Weapon of Mass Distraction" as I heard someone so aptly call our phones/social media recently.

Thank you for sharing your very relevant struggle.

Thank you so much for this, Mo. I, too, have been reevaluating how I use my energy/attention and how it affects my general state of mind, my work, relationships, etc. While the internet has brought us forward in so many ways, today's distractions have an insidious quality that seems to normalize many unhealthy behaviors.

Oh Thank God! Even an accomplished author is facing the same issues as I am. It feels relieving to know that I am not the only one. Though I don't use social media but I scroll, nonetheless, on Medium and Substack. And I have to use WhatsApp a lot due to work.

Maybe that's why I am also not able to give full attention to reading long-form articles and books. But for a second I thought maybe I have developed symptoms of ADHD! Or maybe not.

It's just the curse of using a smartphone.

That's why these days I start my day with writing morning pages and then drinking Athletic Greens.

Thanks for the article and the suggested reading. Looking to read more about Dopamine.

I don't have a smart-phone - just a 20-year old Nokia, which I rarely carry with me. People say I'm hard to get hold of; I reply send me a text, or email - I look at them once or twice a day. I guess it's a matter of feeling one is not only worthy enough to live without interference but also that one clocks how serious it is, how crucial for regaining our sanity, and ability to connect authentically. Otherwise it's a mad-hatter's tea-party, as Bree Stilwell mentioned in a recent post of hers (Making Space for the Good Stuff, 23rd Feb, 2024)
