I feel it Mo. Beautiful writing, and a beautiful read. It was nice to listen to your voice. Grief will unwind in it’s own storms of time. Bless you on the journey. I guess we are a poem between Nietzshe and Rumi. We dance between the two. Never one. Always both. Somewhere between. Always a wave trying to get lost on a beach so it can surf the ocean all over again. The paradox. Hold onto that padel and take care of that elbow! Roger Federer famously said he only ever won 54% of the points he ever played. It’s only ever about the current point. Lean in. Keep writing. Big hugs.
I agree that it can be challenging to decide which ideology we should mainly practice.
Perhaps in cases like this, we can incorporate certain aspects from both ideologies that are more moderate and healthy, and disregard the more extreme ones that are irrational and unsuitable for our lives.
Great essay Mo , I can relate to this. We need to be both tough and nice in our lives and jobs. Sometimes we have to work really hard to get what we want, like when we're trying to win a game or finish a big project. But we also need to be kind and care about others' feelings. When we can do both, we can do well and still have good friends and coworkers. The voice note was a pleasant add on.
Wow! This was such a powerful read, beautifully written, and resonant of my own struggle between striving for power or love. For me, love always wins out because love, I believe, IS our greatest power. I’ve never been a business person or a corporate type (I’m a writer and educationist), so perhaps I haven’t struggled with the same capitalistic expectations, but I have been a woman in a patriarchal world, trying to prove that I’m “man” enough to be taken seriously. In truth, there’s masculine and feminine within us all, an angel and a devil, yin and yang. We’re constantly finding our balance, walking that line. The exhilaration is in the journey, the constant exploration, digging deeper, uncovering the jewels of self-discovery. Thank you for the thought-provoking read! I’m so glad to have found your Substack!😊
Thank you for sharing your journey and reflections, Nida! It's powerful to recognize that love is our greatest strength, especially in a world that often values power differently. I'm glad this resonated with you, and I'm grateful to have you as a reader on this journey!
Thanks for the heartfelt and candid post, Mo. You've expressed how we grapple with internal conflicts while wearing different hats to survive, make sense of the world and also savor what life has to offer. Looking at personalities within oneself through the lenses of Nietzsche and Rumi's philosophies made it more relatable, I think. Yes, you are both plus more.
You appear calm and collected everytime I’ve seen you. I can imagine you losing your cool on your employee! The business operating environment is tough. You are not alone. Keep pushing forward. There are signs of hope and recovery.
Such a honest, vulnerable, and powerful essay Mo! You beautifully describe the journey required discovering true self. It’s a journey of a lifetime. I think Rumi helps us get a picture that there really is nothing but love. But the journey to living in the awareness of that love requires the honest exploration you describe here. Many blessings to you and thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey. I am a fellow traveler.🙏

Love it..."We are the poem between Nietzche and Rumi."

Thanks for sharing your perspective, Raveen! Absolutely! Striking a balance can help us create a more rational and fulfilling path in our lives.

Thanks, Delali! We all have our moments, and staying calm is a practice I continually work on.
Good stuff, Mo.
Thank you, Harun!
We always live in the balance of both. We are both sides ❤️
