Oh man, do I relate. My birthday usually goes the same way. The introspection becomes ever more potent and focused the older I get (I'm 48 now). Thank you for your honesty and willingness to share your journey. I'm grateful that I contributed in some small way to how you think about your purpose. You certainly returned the favor with interest this morning. I really needed to read your piece. Deep gratitude. May we both (and all!) continue to recognize the truth of our being.

Just turned 55 just ahead of you. It took me 50 years to realize that I am just living into the questions and that my purpose is being aware of Being. Poetry is an act of resilience that opens up to the spaces where that transformation is possible for me. I am a big Maslow fan as well and self transcendence, that feeling of being part of some thing beyond ourselves is where those questions all seem to lead me. You are brilliant writer, and I enjoyed reading your post.

Hey Jamie, glad to hear there's someone older than me. :):):) I like what you said that you see poetry as an act of resilience. Thank you for your lovely words. Hope we can connect somehow.
